Irene Frances Hyszczak (née Jurkowski) passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, in Dover, Delaware, at the age of 92.
Born on March 31, 1933, in Harrison, New York, Irene lived a long and meaningful life including studying piano at the Julliard School in NYC. Later in life, she became an avid sports fan and closely followed UVA sports and all Philadelphia teams.
She was the beloved wife of Carl Hyszczak, who preceded her in death. Together they built a family in Parsippany, NJ with Irene in charge of the household. Upon retirement, Carl and Irene retired first to Conway, SC and then Charlottesville, VA. Finally, Irene settled to Dover, DE to be close to daughter Deborah.
Irene is lovingly remembered by her family: daughter, Deborah Romano (Brian Romano); son, Kenneth Hyszczak (Maura Harty); daughter, Ann Nuckols ( David Nuckols); grandchildren: Bryan Haar (Julie Haar); Daniel Hyszczak (Claire Tipton) and great grandson, Walter; Matthew Hyszczak (Natalie Hyszczak); Willie Nuckols (Madison Stewart).
A favorite phrase that Irene often used was, ‘I never tried that!’ Her legacy to “not miss out on anything” and kindness to all lives on through them.
May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
