Helen received her heavenly promotion on November 25, 2021.

Helen Marie Best- Lucas was born in Wilson North Carolina on March 10, 1935.  She was the loving daughter of the late Joshua Best and Lula King- Best and a loved sister of her many brothers and sisters.   

Helen later married her husband James E. Lucas and had her beloved daughter Marilyn L. Mason.  Helen and her family later moved to New Jersey  where she retired after working 20 plus years as a devoted Lockheed Martin Corporation employee in North Plainfield, NJ.  

She later decided to enjoy the remainder of her retirement in the state of Delaware.  

Cooking many of her signature dishes and sitting down to have warm conversations were some of the activities she enjoyed most. 

The Word of God was a huge staple in her everyday life… and oh, yes...Jimmy Swaggart Ministries was a favorite of hers along with watching Soul Train every Saturday morning.  

Her legacy and warm loving memories will be remembered by her husband James E. Lucas, daughter Marilyn L. Mason and husband James.  Her granddaughter Taralauryn M. Porter, Great-granddaughter Yara-Kosey I. Johnson and her two sisters Annie Parker and Deloris Smith along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and the family dog Meki.  

Viewing will be held Friday December 3, 2021 at Pippin Funeral Home & Crematorium on 119 West Camden Wyoming Ave. Wyoming, DE 19934 from 11am-12pm.  Promptly following will be her memorial service at 12pm. If you plan on attending the family requests that you bring and wear a mask.
