George Pinkney Jr. Obituary

George Pinkney Jr. was born on August 25, 1934, in Marion, South Carolina to George Pinkney Sr. and Eva Pinkney. He was the fourth child of the seven children born to this couple.

In 1954, at the age of 19, George Jr. left South Carolina. He moved to Florida and remained there until he was 25. He then left Florida making a new move. This time he would find himself in Delaware where he would spend the rest of his life.

George was always a hard worker. He was very dependable. His faithfulness gained him many friends. In 1959, George began working in Delaware as a laborer at the King Cole Canning Factory located in Milton, Delaware. In 1961, he moved to another job working in a poultry processing factory known as Burris Poultry Plant. While this company changed many owners over the years, George remained loyal to his position there. The company now known as Perdue Farms is where George finally decided it was time for him to retire after giving 56 years of service.

George was a man of wisdom and he was never at a loss for words. He never had any difficulty sharing his wisdom with anyone who would listen. His favorite thing to talk about was the goodness of Jesus. He was always ready with a message that glorified his Savior.

George is preceded in death by his daughter, Latashia Young; his parents, George Sr. and Eva Pinkney; 3 sisters, Rosie Pinkney-Hardy, Odessa Pinkney, Jeanie Mae Pinkney; and 2 brothers, John Pinkney and Bobby Pinkney, and a special sister-law, Cordelia Young.

George was instrumental in helping to raise many of his nieces and nephews who needed a father figure in their lives. He was willing to help where he could and as a result George Pinkney Jr. acquire many family members and many faithful friends who have loved him until the end. In 1993 George joined the Liberty Church in Dover, DE, under the leadership of Pastor Delia Faye Ballance and Associate Pastor William Price. While there he formed a close bond with the Liberty family. He was faithful to do whatever he was asked to do to help the church. Again, George acquired another loving family that has been very supportive of him.

George leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Jessie, his granddaughter and love of his life, Tiffany Young of Magnolia, DE; a sister, Bertha Pinkney — Davis of Miami, Florida; sisters-in-law, Loleta Young, Mable Young, and Mattie Waters,-his favorite 4 legged friend, Cinnamon; nieces and nephews, in-laws, and a host of friends and church family members.
