George Dougal McDuffie, 87, passed away on February 20, 2025. George was born in Rockingham, NC to the late James and Monnie (Patterson) McDuffie. George was also preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Margaret “Peggy” McDuffie; and his brothers, James William McDuffie and Daniel Thomas McDuffie.
George, fondly known as “Mac”, loved to share the stories from his vast life experience and was known for his kindhearted spirit and his witty sense of humor. He proudly served his country first in the United States Navy and then in the United States Air Force. He retired from the Air Force after 28 years as a Chief Master Sergeant. After military retirement, George earned his Bachelor of Business Administration. While he was working on his degree, he worked at Milford Hospital and upon graduation he worked for U.S. Cold Storage. In his free time, George enjoyed golfing, reading, watching old movies, and volunteering with the Air Mobility Command Museum. Above all, George enjoyed spending time and sharing his jokes and stories with his friends and family.
George leaves to cherish his memory his children, Robert Fletcher (Annmarie) and Stacey Fletcher (Jonathan Miller); his grandchildren, Harry, Hank, Alanis and Miles; as well as extended family members, friends, neighbors, and military friends.
Services for George will be private. To honor George’s memory and his passion for the Air Force, the family suggests making donations to the Air Mobility Command Museum.
