Frederick William Hotchkiss

     Frederick W. Hotchkiss, 80, of Camden, DE passed away January 11, 2023 at Bayhealth Hospital in Dover, DE. Born July 10, 1942 in Springboro, PA, he was the son of Neil H. and Kathryn (Boyce) Hotchkiss. Fred was a part of the graduating class of 1960 at Conneaut Valley High School, as well as the graduating class of 1965 at Delaware Valley University where he earned a degree in Dairy Husbandry.

     After graduating from Delaware Valley, Fred enjoyed a long career in the agriculture industry where he spent 20 years in milk production at Ashcombe Dover Dairy in Dover, PA and 20 years as a milk inspector for Land O’ Lakes, Inc. Fred was passionate about community service throughout his life, and served as an active member in many organizations including Pennsylvania Young Farmers’ Association, Lions Club, Dover United Church of Christ in Dover, PA, and People’s Church of Dover, DE. He was also a 32nd degree Mason in the Zeredatha-White Rose Lodge No. 451, York, PA. Fred loved spending time with his family and friends – especially around the dinner table, where his company and signature dishes were enjoyed by all.

     Fred was preceded in death by his parents, sister Kathy A. Cook, and grandson Dillon Hotchkiss. 

     He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Cynthia (Lindsay), his three daughters Stephanie Hotchkiss of Harrington, DE, Jennifer Witte (Brian) of Wilmington, DE, Suzanne Hotchkiss-Price (Defhaun) of High Point, NC, and his son Jason Hotchkiss (Veronica) of Camden, DE; four grandchildren Wyatt Hotchkiss, Courtlyn and Jared Witte, and Dorien Hotchkiss-Price, and brother, James W. Hotchkiss (Cindy) of Sebring, FL.

     Family and friends are invited to celebrate Fred’s life at a Memorial Service on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at People’s Church of Dover, 46 S. Bradford St., Dover, DE beginning at 12:30 p.m., where friends may visit with the family from 12:00 P.M. until 12:30 P.M. Saturday. Interment will follow at Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery, Frederica, DE.
