Frank Moffett, Sr, 86, of Camden, DE was called home on November 12, 2021, surrounded by family. He was born March 6, 1935, in Bay Springs, MS, to the late Vallie Mae Charles (Moffett) and Booker T. Moffett. 

Frank moved to New Orleans, LA where he met his high school sweetheart, Hilda. They were married on February 8, 1958, after he joined the United States Air Force. Frank’s military career spanned 27 years from February 20, 1956, through February 28, 1983, where he retired with honors. He was recognized for his service and received many medals including, the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service, Air Force Commendation, and Vietnam Service Medals. He served two tours in Vietnam. He was based oversees in England, Korea, Thailand, Japan and Okinawa and stateside in South Carolina, New Jersey and California before settling in Dover, DE at the Dover Air Force Base with his family.

Frank and Hilda celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in February. Out of their union came 3 children, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren which they loved dearly. Frank and Hilda enjoyed traveling. They went on cruises, traveled to Paris, and love visiting family in New Orleans, LA. Frank and Hilda always made time to support their sons, Frank Jr., and David’s Sporting events. Rhonda, followed in her father’s footsteps, by joining the United States Air Force. They loved spending time with their grandchildren especially during holidays and major milestones. Frank was a true family man who was generous and compassionate. 

After retiring from the military, Frank attended and graduated from Delaware Technical Community College with an associate degree in HVAC. He went to work at the Dover Air Force Base as a civilian in Housing Maintenance. Frank was just a phone call away when friends needed help. Anyone who knew Frank knows he was a “Jack of all trades” – He knew how to make and fix just about anything from repairing automobiles to making his own BBQ grills… And he made the best BBQ ribs around! He bartended for Governor Pete du Pont. He was an avid outdoors man. He enjoyed planting and sharing his garden, sitting out on the front porch, hunting, and fishing with family and friends. Frank regularly attended Holy Cross Catholic Church in Dover, DE. He served as an usher for 20 years. He was a member of the Kent County 850 Vietnam Veterans of America.

Frank leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Hilda; his children, Rhonda Moffett, Frank Moffett Jr. (Danielle), David Moffett; his grandchildren, Anthony Stokes II, Terence Stokes, Jade Moffett, Jordan Moffett, Frank Moffett 3rd, Daniel Moffett; six great-grandchildren; Aunt Gertie Fox of Jackson, MS and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
