Frances Cooper Obituary

Frances Sylvia Cooper passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024, peacefully at home in Dover surrounded by her family.  Frances was born on February 5, 1941, in Cumberland County, North Carolina to the late Cass Benton “Tom” and Carrie Salmon.  She was their last surviving child.  

She met her future husband Bill when he was stationed at Donaldson Air Force Base in Greenville, South Carolina.  They had been married for 60 years until his death in October 2023.  They had 2 children, Mike who was born in South Carolina and Anne who was born in Georgia.  She worked at the Pick- Up Point Laundry in Sembach, Germany when her husband was stationed there.  She also worked as a sewing machine operator for many years for Kim Manufacturing in Dover.  Before retiring, Frances was employed at Dover Hardware for many years.

While living in Germany, she played softball for the Sembach Schatzies. Frances loved collecting music boxes and glass bells.   She enjoyed gardening, especially her vegetable garden. She loved to share her fresh produce with her family and friends.  She was also very creative with crafts and also shared her final products with her family and friends.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles, Robert, and Larry; sisters, Doris Barnes and Peggy Jumonville; husband, Bill; son, Mike.

She is survived by her daughter Anne Cooper (Richard); grandchildren Richard Jr. and Krystle Diaz (Allen); great grandchildren, Robert, Abigail and Veda; many nieces and nephews. 

She will be laid to rest with her husband at the Veterans Cemetery in Bear, Delaware.  In Lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Heritage Baptist Church P.O. Box 452 Camden, DE 19934
