A Vietnam Veteran and a retired Delaware Standardbred Harness Trainer, Everett C. Bickling Jr. of Dover, passed away at home on Saturday May 16, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born in Camden-Wyoming on May 17, 1950, Everett was the son to Everett Bickling Sr. and Dorothy Bickling.
Everett was a former employee of Playtex and also owned his own detailing shop for several years. He was most known for being a Delaware Standardbred Trainer, racing at such places as Harrington, Dover Downs, Oceans Downs, Rosecroft and Brandywine raceway.
Besides racing, Everett also had great interest in classic cars. Restoring, rebuilding, or collecting, he loved every aspect of it. He was especially fond of the 1970 El Camino, which he had the opportunity to purchase one less than a month ago. Everett also enjoyed talking to all his friends and seeing how everyone was doing. He also loved his Maryland crabs with a cold beer. He enjoyed his Sundays watching his Eagles and watching NASCAR.
Everett is survived by his wife Susan Bickling of 51 years of marriage son Everett Bickling 3rd with his fiancé Kayla Wertz, and sister-in-law Cindy Baker.
There will be viewing from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2026 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, Delaware. Visitation will conclude with military honors.
Burial will be private in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, Delaware.
