Elizabeth "Polly" Calhoun Jose Obituary

Elizabeth “Polly” Calhoun Jose, Age 84, of Dover, Delaware passed away on January 18, 2026, at Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus, Dover.

Polly was born on April 14, 1941, in the Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to her parents, Mary Roberts Calhoun and Joseph Dukes Calhoun.

She grew up in Norwood, Pennsylvania and went to Norwood Grammar School and Gen-Nor High School.  Polly also went to the Peirce Business School in Philadelphia and received a business degree.  She received dual degrees in art education BTA and Painting BTA at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, Massachusetts.

Polly will be remembered for her love of books, gardening, cooking, and her love of the outdoors and travel.  She had been to every state (except Hawaii).  She was also a world traveler with her husband, visiting 68 countries. 

She and her husband George lived in the following locations: Norwood (PA), Glenolden (PA), Erie (PA), Plymouth (MA), Hull (MA), St. Clair Shores (MI), Cairo, Egypt, and Dover (DE).

Polly was preceded in death by her son, Michael Joseph Jose in August of 2024.

She leaves behind her loving husband, George Jose, her partner in life for 65 wonderful years.  She also leaves behind her sisters, Susan Calhoun Moss of New York City, NY, and Tunia McClure of Washington, IN; daughter, Jennifer Parziale of Newport, ME; her granddaughter, Rachel Rios and her husband, Jonathan of Newport, ME; and her great grandchildren Blake and Rylee Rios of Newport, ME.

Polly always loved animals and leaves behind her dog, Madison and her cat, Minka.
