Elder Granville S. Brokenbrough, also known as Brock, departed his life on April 21, 2021.He was born July 19,1943 in Middletown, Delaware to the late John Henry Brokenbrough and Syliva Brokenbrough. He attended Louis L. Redding School in Middletown, DE. He later joined and served in the U.S. Army in 1962 to 1964 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina as a paratrooper and infantry soldier under the 82nd Airborne Corps. After serving in the military he relocated to Dover, DE where he met the love of his life, the late Ina Benson-Brokenbrough. Elder Granville was a devoted servant of the Lord for 47 years where he served as Assistant Pastor of Greater Life Christian Church, under the leadership of the late Bishop James A. Ashley Sr., Overseer James A. Ashley Jr. And Pastor Donald Ashley. Elder Brock was employed for many years at General Foods, Henkels and McCoy, Dover Cold Storage, and as a beloved custodian at Lake Forest High School where he retired after 24 years of service. Elder loved to praise God. One of his favorite scriptures and prayer Romans 6:23; For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is Eternal Life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Elder Brock loved children. He always said, “Never turn a child down, because you could make a difference in their life.” During his life he raised foster kids, Fresh Air Kids, neighborhood kids and family. Elder Brock will be forever missed and loved.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ina Brokenbrough, his brothers (4), Charles, Elwood, John, Raymond Brokenbrough, his sister (3), Rebecca Benson, Deborah Edwards, Valerie Brokenbrough and his stepson, Charles Benson.
He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Anthony (Tamilia) Brokenbrough (NC), Deangelo Evans, Elijah Barlow and Terrance Benson Felton, DE. His stepdaughters, Janice (Terry) Brooks and Jacquelyn Moore all of DE. His grandchildren Dai’Brianna, Aniya, Anthony, and Deonta’ Brokenbrough, NC, and a host of other grandchildren and great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Special nephews, Russell Hooks and Kevin (Earlene) Hooks. Special niece, Teona Benson-Armstrong. And a host of nieces and nephews all of Felton, Delaware. And his brothers, Courtney, North Carolina, Ronald (Dot) California, Thurmond (Linda) Washington, Larry (Vondra) Delaware. His sisters, Barbara Saddler, Wilmington, Roselyn Summers, Dover, Delaware, Gwendolyn Tolliver, New Castle. His Godchildren, Shelly Warren, Thomas J. Lewis Jr. And Michael Hynson. Special friends Thomas Lewis Sr., Ronnie Terry and Johnnie Jackson. And his special sister-in-law Catherine Simms.
There will be a viewing from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, April 30, 2021 at Greater Life Christian Church, 240 Head Start Lane, Dover, DE19901.There will be an additional viewing at the church from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Saturday, May 1, 2021 where a funeral service will begin at 12:00 P.M.Committal will be in DE Veterans Cemetery, Millsboro at 1:00 P.M.
