Elaine Haigler Eley, of Dover, DE, departed this life peacefully on April 6, 2025. She was born in Harlem, NY on August 12, 1955 to the late David Haigler Sr. and Janie Haigler.
Elaine graduated from Sarah J. Hale High School in Brooklyn, NY. As a young adult, she found the Lord and was baptized in 1968. While in New York she attended Brown Memorial Baptist Church for 35 years.
Elaine’s many places of employment included working for the Brooklyn Jewish Hospital, Chase Manhattan Bank, the Department of Corrections for 2 years, and then finally the New York City Police Department for 35 years until she retired. After her retirement she relocated to Dover, DE where she attended First Pilgrim Baptist Church. She loved it so much she joined in August 2022 under the leadership of Pastor Regina L. Bell. Elaine was a member of several ministries within the church such as Pastor Support Ministry, Culinary Ministry, Senior Choir and the cleaning team, helping to keep the beautification of the church. She was dedicated and determined and gave her best effort!
Elaine was independent who ventured out on her own and made new friends that loved her like family. Elaine loved to have fun and be a part of the great crowd. She loved to laugh, eat good food and sing karaoke. She also loved movies and traveling. Elaine made the best potato salad; it was a top request for any gatherings or fellowship. She was also very good at decorating and coordinating for special events.
