Edward Richard Aziz, Jr. was born on May 30, 1941, in Teaneck, New Jersey. He was the son of Edward R. Aziz, Sr. and Beatrice Georgiana Aziz, nèe Miller.
Rich graduated from Ridgewood High School in 1959. He played ice hockey at Franklin and Marshall College and graduated with a BA in history in 1963. Rich joined the United States Army in January, 1966 and received his commission in November, 1966. He served a tour of duty in Vietnam and was separated from active duty in November, 1968.
Rich’s early career involved working in the shipping industry, where he later started his own company, Transport Planning and Services International.
Rich and his family lived in South Harrison Township, New Jersey, for over twenty years where he was involved in the community. He served as a member of the South Harrison Board of Education and the Kingsway Regional High School Board of Education from 1982-1988; he was the Board president from 1986-1988. Rich was also on the Parish Council for the Holy Name of Jesus Church in Mullica Hill, New Jersey.
Mr. Aziz moved to Camden, Delaware in 2005.
Rich was an accomplished cook and gardener and often prepared dishes with vegetables from his own garden. He also enjoyed hunting and skeet shooting. He was an avid sports fan, cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles, the Philadelphia Flyers and was a lifelong New York Yankees fan.
Rich was predeceased by his wife of over fifty years, Deborah Aziz nèe Carter, and his daughter Deborah Anne of East Point, Georgia. He is survived by his daughter Elizabeth Ann (O'Keefe) of Benton, Pennsylvania. He will be missed by his many friends and family.
Service will be 12:00 noon, Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, Delaware, where family and friends may gather two hours earlier beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, Delaware.
