Douglas Michael Flanagan, of Felton, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, February 22, 2023, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 76.
Doug was born January 11, 1947 in Bennettsville, South Carolina to the late, Marie & Joseph Flanagan. He graduated from Caesar Rodney High School, Class of 1966. He served proudly for 4 years in the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Dover Air Force Base, then at Hickam Air Force Base, in Honolulu, Hawaii. After many years selling heavy duty truck parts in the Delmarva area, he retired in 2009.
Some of his many hobbies included owning and racing standard bred horses and collecting and restoring antique and classic toys.
Doug was a loving husband, father, grandfather, family member and friend to many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Martin Porter, and loving Aunt Eva Outten.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Diane(Dixon) Flanagan; 2 daughters, Theresa Heinold(Michael) and Jill Rodelli(David Dickerson); granddaughter, Shelby Heinold; grandsons, Dawson Rodelli and Dylan Dickerson; a brother, Eugene Flanagan(Patsy); cousin, David Outten and daughter Melanie, and son, Ben; sister-in-laws, Patricia Davis, Janet Lowry and Beverly Severson(Benny); brother-in-law, Millard Dixon(Joanne); and many nieces & nephews.
Doug’s neighbors were his extended family. Doug was Grandpa to the Petty Family, Beloved friend to the Gallagher Family, The Potts Family, The Logan Family; and to Mr.Ron Mitchell and many others.
A Memorial Service will be held 2pm, Friday, March 3, 2023 in Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming; where family and friends may gather beginning at 1:30 pm.
