Dorothy Ella (Dalton) Sawyer

     Dorothy Ella Sawyer, 90, of Stella Street in Smyrna, went to be with the Lord and to be with her loved ones who have gone before her on Monday, March 15, 2021.

     Mrs. Sawyer was born on January 30, 1931 in Red Star, West Virginia to the late Thomas Patrick Dalton and Elizabeth Haney Dalton.

     Mrs. Sawyer was a member of the Harvey Methodist Church in Harvey, West Virginia for many years.  In recent years, she became an avid football fan with the Eagles being her favorite team!  She never missed watching the soap operas on television and her latest love was the show “Yellowstone”.  She loved spending time with her family, having large family dinners, and shopping.

     Mrs. Sawyer was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Sawyer, her brothers James Lewis Dalton, Sr. and Thomas P. Dalton, Jr.; her sister Clara Catherine Burgess; grandson Harlen Paul Oman; granddaughter Lucy Oman; daughter-in-law Kelly Meadows; and her son-in-law John W. “Jack” Chandler.

     Mrs. Sawyer is survived by her daughter Linda R. Chandler of Woodland Beach; her son Roy C. Meadows, Jr. of Clayton; daughter Sharon Y. Gott (Frank) of Viola; and daughter Donna S. Oman (Harlen, Jr.) of Hartly; her sister Barbara Williams; and niece Brenda Burgess, both from Oak Hill, West Virginia, where the rest of her loving family reside.  She was blessed with 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 17 great great grandchildren.

     A funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE 19934 where there will be a viewing from 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M. Wednesday.  COVID-19 protocol will be in effect.  No more than 50 persons in the funeral home at once.  Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, Dover.  Online condolences may be made via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
