Doris Laura Olivier was born on March 20, 1933, to the late Arthur O Dallaire & Alma (Audette) Dallaire, in Fall River, MA. She was raised with a strong Catholic faith and graduated High School from Sacred Heart Academy in Fall River, MA in 1950. It was on a fateful day in 1955 where she would meet the love of her life, Oscar A Olivier, at the Lincoln Park Ballroom. The two would marry on September 1, 1956, and had three children, Louise, Alan, and Donald. She worked for the Jewish Home elder care facility for nearly 30 years before she retired and moved to Delaware, after the untimely passing of her husband in August 1997.
She was known by several “declarations of affection” over the years, including Mom, Memere, Auntie, Mrs. ‘O’, Cookie Monster, Old Coot, Old Bat, and most prominently, The Queen. But to most everybody that came into her life in her later years, she was just Gram!
She thoroughly enjoyed dancing, and she and Ozzie could literally clear the dance floor. Gram had a second stomach solely for ice cream, and her family will not know what to do with the extra Christmas cookies that she most surely would have eaten all on her own. There wasn’t a word search or crossword puzzle that she couldn’t solve, and there wasn’t a ball of yarn that she hadn’t touched. But at her core, Gram was a caregiver. She always gave the warmest hugs and was always there to listen to anybody who ever needed a friend.
Throughout her time at the Genesis Milford Center, Gram was loved by both the staff and her fellow residents. The love and support she received was second to none and her family is beyond appreciative of the care she was given during her final days.
She was reunited with her beloved Ozzie on October 27, 2024.
Gram is survived by her children, Louise (James) Wishart, Alan Olivier, and Donald Olivier; a brother Arthur A. Dallaire (Jeanne); grandchildren Donald Jr., Kevin (Jan), Sandy (Stewart), Heather (Henry) and Andre (Sarah); great-grandchildren Dean, Maddison, Jacob, Abigail, Faith and William; and many nieces and nephews. An honorable mention goes to her best friend of many decades, Helen Rousseau, as well as her beloved cat Sami of the last 19 (yes, you read that right) years.
A visitation will be held at Pippin Funeral Home on Saturday, November 2, from 1:00-3:00pm. Burial will be private.
