Donald E. “Ed’ Swetland, 75, of Dover, Delaware passed away at home on Thursday, February 12, 2026 after a hard-fought battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Ed was born on August 15, 1950 in Seaford, Delaware, to the late Donald and Mary (Meluney) Swetland. He was raised in Camden, Delaware and graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in 1969. He was a longtime sales associate at J.C. Penny and owner of Blue Hen Forms. Ed enjoyed tennis, music, the outdoors, animals, camping, trails and hiking; frequently traveling to Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park. He was always upbeat and loved spending time with his family, many friends and his dog.
Ed is survived by his son James Swetland and his daughter Alexandra Houser and her husband D.J. Houser; his grandchildren Bentley and Ryan Houser; his brother David Swetland and his wife Candice Swetland; his brother-in-law Galen Daub; his nephews Keith Swetland and Brian Swetland; his beloved dog Mercedes “Cedes”; and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Mary Lisa (Swetland) Daub.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday March 6, 2026 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, Delaware 19934 where friends and family may gather one hour earlier at 10:00 A.M. for a viewing. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden, DE.
