Donald McFadden Obituary

Donald William McFadden, 79, of Dover, Delaware, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 8, 2025.

Born on January 30, 1946, in New Jersey, he was the son of the late Mary (McClister) and William McFadden. He graduated from Pennsbury High School in 1964 and soon began his career with General Motors, where he retired as Head Clerk in the Shipping and Receiving Department.

From 1968 to 1970, Donald proudly served in the United States Navy. He was stationed aboard the USS Robert L. Wilson and later completed his final assignment as Petty Officer Third Class on the USS Columbus, with its last port in Norfolk, Virginia.

Don had an immeasurable knowledge and love of cars, John Deere tractors, and engines of all kinds. He enjoyed countless conversations about them, sharing his wisdom and enthusiasm. His passion for cars led him to attend many drag racing events over the years, and eventually to race himself, fulfilling the love of speed and competition.

He held a deep fondness for his childhood home in Pennsylvania, and when he later moved to Delaware, it quickly became his new home. There, he built lasting relationships and cherished friendships that endured throughout his lifetime. Don also had a special place in his heart for his little buddy, “Sprout.”

He is survived by numerous cousins.

At his request, private services were held at Newtown Cemetery in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105,  in his memory.
