Donald Eugene Bilow, of Wyoming, DE, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. He was 100 years old.
Donald was born February 27, 1922 in Harrington, Delaware to the late, Arthur & Effie(Friedel) Bilow.
Donald was the last remaining graduate of the Caesar Rodney High School, Class of 1940; then served proudly in the United States Navy for 14 months on the U.S.S. Wasp in the South Pacific Theatre during World War II. After returning stateside, Donald went on to work for the State of Delaware Highway Department for 37 years, retiring in 1984.
He was the oldest Life Member of the Camden-Wyoming Fire Company, an avid wood worker, who enjoyed camping, reading, and playing various musical instruments.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David E. Bilow, who died in 2014.
Donald is survived by his wife of 69 years, Elaine(Biehl) Bilow; 2 daughters, Donna E. Mason & husband, Jim & Deborah J. Traute & husband, Fred, both of Wyoming, DE; 5 grandchildren, Amy DeLeon, of Wilmington; Darrell Kraft & wife, Julie, of Camden; Katie Swartz & husband, John, of Smyrna; Wesley Traute & wife, Ana, of Dover; and Amanda Bilow, of Camden; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held 11am, Wednesday, June 22, 2022, in Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming; where family and friends may view 2 hours before. Burial Will follow in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
