Dolly Ann Castillo (Blanchfield), 68, of Dover Delaware, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Dolly worked as a Hospitality Manger at Dover Budget Inn for many years before retiring due to health issues.
She was visually impaired, yet that never stopped her, and she never let it defeat her. Dolly’s favorite thing to do was play Bingo. Whether she could see the card(book) or not, she played. But her wonderful friends at Bingo, whom she absolutely loved and adored, would help her. She wanted to win the “cookie jar.” She turned her sister Debbie onto it as well, getting her a big Bingo bag with lots of dabbers, because “you never want to run out of ink.” Even with her limitations, there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for the people she loved. She always showed up for everyone. You could always find her watching her Soaps, listening to George Strait, watching TikTok, gossiping with her “Dessie,” and calling to check on everyone, like she did weekly with Jamie, who she loved like her own. She knew everyone’s business before they knew it. She always had her police scanner on and would call her loved ones to let them know if something was going on around them.
Dolly was the one who called for every single birthday, holiday, special event, etc. Her family wondered if she had a secret birthday book somewhere, because she NEVER forgot a birthday. With her, you always knew you were loved and that she always had your back.
She was predeceased by her Husband, Jose Castillo, in 1979, her father, Leroy A. Blanchfield, her mother, Lydia L. Blanchfield, and sisters, Deborah E. Boisey and Brenda L. Stelljes. Dolly is survived by her son, Joseph Castillo, of Dover Delaware and lifelong Partner, Raymond (Dale) Gragg, of Dover, brother Leroy Blanchfield Jr. of Felton, brother-in-laws, Jonnie Boisey and Charlie Stelljes, nephews, Chris Stelljes (Kristi), Michael Boisey (Samantha), David Loder, (Vivian), Michael Stelljes, Joshua Boisey (Britney), Anthony Cadiz, nieces, Jennifer Rickards (Martell), and Mary Boisey. She loved and cherished her great nieces and nephews as well, Destanee, Davina, Danielle, Vanessa, Carson, Nakera, Kenyan, Lydia, Joelle, Makenzie, TJ, Jordyn, and Anaya. Dolly also had a great-great nephew, Landyn, and great-great niece Xiena, whom she loved dearly. And lastly, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
There will be no service at this time, however, there will be a celebration of life at a later date.
