Diane Spencer, 77 of Camden, DE passed away on April 29, 2025, at Bay Health Hospital with her children by her side. She fought a long hard battle with cancer for the last three years.
Diane was born in Camden, DE on December 28, 1947, to John Bell Jr and his wife Beulah. Diane was the oldest of their two children.
Diane went to Caesar Rodney High School and graduated in 1965. Upon graduation she started work at Bell Atlantic as a switchboard operator. She rose in the company (which changed to Verizon) to be an engineering supervisor at her retirement in 2008.
Diane went to Wilmington College in the late 1990s and graduated with a Bachelor of Behavioral Science degree in 1999. She was part of the Phi Theta Kappa Scholastic Order as well as the Delta Epsilon Rho Honor Society.
Diane had many hobbies but among her favorites were going to The Moose Lodge in Harrington on Wednesday and Friday evenings to dance, going to breakfast with her phone company friends, and spending time with her family. Even though she wasn’t fond of going to the hospital to get treatments she considered the ladies at Bay Health Cancer Center to be her friends and they made her treatment days that much better. She was very thankful for their kindness that made her treatment that much more pleasant.
She is survived by her children Christopher (Mindy) and Jennifer, Grandchildren Jacob (Lauren), Remington and Gauge, brother John (Peggy), niece Nicole (Matt), Nicoles children Christian, Xavier and Brittney.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday May 31st, 2025, at Roma Restaurant, at 2pm. All are invited to attend.
