Dennis Spence Obituary

Dennis Spence Sr., the son of the late Edna and Preston P. Spence, Sr., departed this life on September 24, 2021, at the age of 67.  He was born on December 11, 1953, in Rehoboth, Delaware.

Dennis graduated from Milford High School in Milford, Delaware.  He also graduated from Delaware State College, majoring in Business Administration. 

Dennis was a member of The Whole Truth Church, where he dedicated his life to Jesus Christ. 

Dennis retired from the Delaware Department of Correction.  After a welcomed respite from a lifetime work experience, he then joined employment with Eastern Shore Equipment Company (ESECO). 

Dennis loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his granddaughter Allie. He also enjoyed gardening, landscaping, and traveling to car shows displaying his restored 1960 Ford Thunderbird. 

In addition to his parents Dennis was preceded in death by his brothers – Preston P. Spence Jr., Everett E. Spence, Charles Spence, Larry Spence, Robert Spence, and sister Delilian Spence White.

Dennis is survived by his wife Dorcell Spence and son Dennis Spence Jr. (Andrea) of Smyrna, DE; one grandchild—Alessandra Rene Spence; mother in-law—Dorothy Smith of Magnolia, DE; two brothers—Elvin Spence (Sarah) of Frederica, DE,  and Michael Spence of Ellendale, DE; three sisters—Vivian Spence of Lincoln, DE, Yvonne Spence of Lincoln, DE, and Darlene Morris (Phillip) of Cheswold, DE; two brother in-laws—Melvin Smith (Rose) of Dover, Frank White of Harrington, DE; a sister in-law—Adriene Browne of Milford, DE; three aunts—Grace Brown of Salisbury, MD, Adeline Thompson of Bridgeville, DE, and Clara Thompson of Milford, DE, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  He will be sadly missed. 

A service is being planned for a later date.
