Deborah A. Dillon
January 5, 1959 – March 6, 2025
Debbie Dillon, a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on March 6, 2025 of sudden heart failure. Born on January 5, 1959, in Dover, Delaware, Debbie lived a life filled with love, kindness, and an unwavering dedication to her family and those around her.
Debbie was a proud mother to her two daughters and a loving grandmother to her two grandsons. She embraced her role as “Mom” and “Grandma” with warmth and generosity, always ensuring that those she loved felt cherished.
A dedicated child nutrition specialist, Debbie spent her career caring for children and retired from her work in 2016. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her profession—she had a deep love for her garden, where she found happiness watching hummingbirds flit among her flowers. She was also an assistant wedding coordinator, where spent many years joyously creating flower arrangements to add to the beauty of weddings on weekends. She was a mermaid in the water, enjoying swimming in the ocean whenever she could. She delighted in spending time with family, always thoughtful and generous, never missing a birthday or an opportunity to send gifts and flowers to loved ones, even across the miles.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold “Skip" and Jeannette Edwards and her husband, Joseph Dillon.
She is survived by her daughters LaNiece Dillon (Joseph Kelly) and Crystal Bloodsworth, grandsons Dillon and Logan Bloodsworth, sister Kim Hartnett (Jack), brother Jack Edwards (Suzie), brother John Edwards (Wanda), and nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind three loving and mischievous pets, Charly, Jet, and Thunder.
Debbie’s kindness, laughter, and love will be deeply missed but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
A memorial service to celebrate Debbie’s life will be held at Pippin Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 18th. Gathering will begin at 5:00 p.m. with the service scheduled for 6:00 p.m. There is a dinner reception to follow at 7:00 p.m. where family and friends are welcome to attend and share memories and a meal in her honor (location details available at memorial).
She believed children should never go hungry. In support of this effort, please consider donating to the Delaware Department of Education School Nutrition Program, in lieu of flowers.
