Deacon William John Murrian, III, 83, of Dover passed away on July 18, 2022. Born in Knoxville, TN, he was the son of the late Kathleen (Findley) and William J. Murrian, Jr.
Deacon Murrian was an electrical engineer for Light, Gas and Water in Memphis, TN for about seven years. He then was an electrical engineer for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), first in Knoxville and then in Chatanooga, TN for about 11 years; he then was an electrical engineer for Sgt. Lundy, where he designed security systems at the Salem Nuclear Plant in Salem, NJ. Most recently, he was an electrical engineer for Tetra Tech in Newark, retiring after several years of service.
Deacon Murrian was a Navy veteran, serving for about five years. He was ordained as a Deacon in 1978 in Memphis, TN and had served as a Deacon for about 40 years; serving in Knoxville, Chatanooga, and Church of the Holy Cross in Dover. Deacon Murrian was an advocate for the Catholic Church and among numerous capacities, was an instructor for RCIA classes.
Deacon Murrian is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carol (Bryson) Murrian; two children James Robert Murrian and his wife Tammy West-Murrian of Smyrna and Mary F. Murrian of Dover; his brother James Murrian and his wife Barbara of Florida; his sister Mary Paulley of Maryville, TN; and three grandchildren: Robert Murrian, Madison Murrian and Tyler Murrian.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at the Church of the Holy Cross, 631 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover. Online condolences may be made via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
