David Roux, lovingly known as “DayDay” or “Popsgoofy” to all who knew and loved him, passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home on Thursday, June 26, 2025, after a two-year battle with cancer. He was 65. His beloved daughter Melissa and loving sister Bonnie were at his side for his journey.
David was born January 1 in Chester, PA, and spent most of his years in Lewes, DE. He served in many positions throughout his adult life in the food industry, including a baker at Pasqualini's Bakery.
He was an avid Disney Goofy collector and football fan, with a love for baking, cooking, grilling, people, and all things fun.
David had a unique ability to connect with people and make friends instantly. He was well-known for telling you exactly what was on his mind and being a little loud. His passing leaves a significant void in the hearts of the many individuals whose lives were touched by his big personality.
David was preceded in death by his father, Alexander Roux; mother, Evelyn Kiesel; son, Patrick Bohler; brothers, Robert Roux and Donald Roux.
He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Alvarado; his son, James Roux; siblings Bonnie Hansen, George Arscott, and Lisa Gaskill; granddaughters Adriana Smith, Cadence Lynch, Cecilia, and Lucia Alvarado; grandsons Gavin Lynch, Austin Noel, and Mason Roux; longtime friend John Hearn; and many nieces and nephews.
All his friends and family are invited to raise a glass, share heartfelt memories, and pay tribute to an extraordinary person at a Celebration of Life that will be announced at a later date.
