Dr. Daniel E. Forsee, 80, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025. Surrounded by his loved ones, he left this world with the same grace, strength, and warmth that defined his life.
Born April 28, 1945, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Norma Lena Smith and Joseph Forsee, Dan was the youngest of three boys. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Robert E. Forsee, his nephew, Bobby Forsee, and his lifelong friend, John Staten.
Dan graduated from Patterson Cooperative High School in 1963, where he met the love of his life and future wife of 60 years, Saundra. Soon after, he entered the U.S. Air Force, beginning a journey marked by service, dedication, and an unquenchable desire to learn. While serving, Dan grew his family and expanded his education, earning a Bachelor of Science from William Carey University in 1975, a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Divinity from the International Bible Institute & Seminary in 1983. His passion for learning continued throughout his life, primarily through his love of reading and his ongoing studies of scripture.
Called to ministry, Dan devoted his life to God and to sharing His message with grace and compassion. Whether preaching, teaching, counseling, or simply offering a listening ear, he touched countless lives. He was sharp-witted, thoughtful, and endlessly caring - a man whose humor and kindness made him a joy to be around. To know him was to love him.
Outside of his ministry, Dan cherished the simple joys of life. He enjoyed golfing, spending quiet afternoons with a good book, and ending each day watching television beside his beloved Saundra. He also had a lifelong love of writing, and one of his short stories was adapted into the film Junk Drawer, a creative accomplishment he was deeply proud of.
Dan is survived by his devoted wife, Saundra; his brother Ronald Forsee and his wife Beverly Forsee; his children, Daniel E. Forsee II and his wife Lisa Forsee; Heather Clark; and his three beloved grandchildren, Maguire Carver, Dani Forsee, and Josephina Forsee. He also leaves behind extended family members, friends, and all those who were blessed by his guidance, friendship, and steadfast faith.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites memorial contributions to the American Legion in Dan’s honor.
