Co-Bishop EllaMae McDonald Obituary

     Co-Bishop EllaMae McDonald was born on June 7, 1956 in Milford, DE, to the late Willie James Butler and Beatrice Butler. Co-Bishop McDonald, affectionately called EllaMae departed this life to be with her heavenly father on Friday November 11, 2022.

     EllaMae graduated from Milford High School with her class in 1974. She continued her education later on in life attending DelTech and Polytech Adult Education in Dover, DE to become a certified childcare caregiver. While continuing her education EllaMae was employed at Golden Corral in Dover, DE.  Once she finished her education, she began her journey in the childcare profession working at Wesley United Methodist Daycare center, providing private childcare services for families in need, Mrs. Butler Daycare, and Tender Care before she retired. EllaMae came out of retirement to provide care for her two older grandsons when they were born. 

     In her childhood she went to church with her grandmother, mother, aunts,and uncles. It was not until the early 80’s she rededicated her life back to the Lord. As the years went by EllaMae held many positions within the church organization, Sister, Deaconess, Minister, Evangelist, First Lady, Mother, Co-Pastor and finally the position she left us in this spiritual warfare Founder & Co-Bishop of Serenity Church of God, INC. 

     EllaMae loved being a homemaker for her husband and children. Her favorite activities were cooking, baking, cleaning, traveling, shopping, gardening, singing, and being her own interior and exterior decorator for her own home. She loved looking at her DayTime Soap Operas. Also, she loved to see her children play sports as well as seeing her grandchildren doing the same. 

     She leaves to cherish her fond memories, her husband of 41 years Bishop Eddie G. McDonald Sr., children Datrina L. Harrell of Cambridge, MD, Eddie G. McDonald Jr (Kelly) of Wilmington, DE, April Batie (d) (Joe) of California, Lavette Williams (Mark) of Bridgeville, DE, Coleasa Risper (Stacy) of Seaford, DE, and Calvin (Montane’) McDonald of Camden, DE., 10 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren, brothers James Brinkley and Ronnie Butler, sister Connie Butler and Virignia Mullen (d), host of nephews, nieces, & cousins she loved very much. Two Special Aunts Christine Haynes and Beatrice Riddick as well as her entire Church family of Serenity Church of God, INC along with Wesley United Methodist Church of Dover, DE.

     A funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 21, 2022 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE  19934 where there will be a viewing from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Monday.  Burial will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.  Online condolences may be made via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
