Clorice Lovett Adams, affectionately known as "Vette," was born on November 20, 1957 to the late Verie Lamont Adams Robinson and Emmanuel Jake Reid. On Wednesday, April 9, 2025 Clorice transitioned from this earthly life to her heavenly home, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and generosity.
Clorice's spiritual journey began at Bethel A.M.E Church in Milford, Delaware. She found joy in creating and sharing “Children’s Moments” throughout numerous churches. A woman of unwavering faith, she passionately shared her testimony, uplifting those around her. Her courage and gratitude were evident in an article by the University of Maryland Medical Center, where she celebrated the life-changing kidney and pancreas transplant she received in June 1999. Clorice glorified the Lord with a heartfelt, foot-stomping shout when she got the call, always believing her pastor's words, “God will put no more on you than you can bear.”
A 1975 graduate of Milford Senior High School, Clorice displayed diligence and responsibility, working in the attendance office during her senior year. She later attended Delaware Technical Community College, pursuing business studies. Her professional life was diverse, including roles at Milford Day Care Center, Melco & Milford Stitching Sewing Factory, Sheldon’s Market, Stevenson’s Detention Center, Pressley Ridge, Children’s Choice Foster Care, and Bonanza. Clorice’s dedication extended beyond her career. She mentored children as a Big Sister at Milford Middle School and Benjamin Banneker Elementary School and generously donated to Milford Senior Center residents. In addition, she was a foster parent to numerous children.
Clorice lived with a vibrant spirit, delighting in church plays, shooting pool, playing basketball and cards, and sharing laughter with friends. Though she had a quiet nature, she was thoughtful, business-minded and occasionally out-spoken. She treasured time spent watching her son Tarron play sports. An avid fan of America’s Funniest Videos, Clorice knew how to appreciate life’s lighter moments. One thing she really loved to do was to order “trinkets” from magazines…many many magazines.
Her loving memory will be cherished by her son, Tarron Tyreake Adams; seven grandchildren: Myisha Rufus, Tykera Perry, DeAndre Carter, Tamoire Ross, Tihanna and Rihanna Adams, and Makeia Cannon; seven sisters: Frances Adams, Carolyn Russell, Dee Cicwithian, Samantha Short, Debbie and Diane Reid, and Doretha Dukes; seven brothers: Irvan Adams, Carlton Adams, Wayne Adams, Brian Reid, Emmanuel Reid, Derwin Smith, and Emmanuel Dukes; four Godchildren: Brittany Jones, Taylor Jones, Shena Reynolds, and Kerico Reynolds; Godparents Mr. and Mrs. Worthy; adopted daughter Barita Ross Gassi; adopted mother Blanche Tingle (Gaddis); and devoted friend, Reesie Jones.
Clorice will be remembered for her faith, her giving heart, and the joy she brought to those she touched. Her presence was a blessing, and her absence leaves a void. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
