Clarence Harris, Sr. Obituary

Clarence Fisher  “Skins” Harris was born April 7, 1943 to the late George and Naomi Harris.

Clarence was called home to our Heavenly Father on October 8, 2019 surrounded by his loving family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his wife Angela, son, Mark A. Harris and his sister, Minnie Harris Hill.  Clarence resided in Milford, Delaware.

Clarence received his education at Benjamin Banneker Elementary School which is located in Milford, Delaware and William Henry High School in Dover, Delaware where he played football and was a great player.

He loved and was truly committed to his wife and family.  He was compassionate and humble and always put others first and showed great respect for others at all times.  In addition, he called his siblings and other family members on Sunday.  He just wanted to show his love for his family.

Clarence's hobbies included fishing, going to the Penn Relays, and enjoying high school football games and track meets.  He was a true 49ers fan!!!

Clarence worked at Reinhold Chemical, Inc as a utility operator for 35 years.  After he retired, he became a crossing guard for the Milford School District hired by the Milford Police Department.

Mr. Harris served with great pride as a school crossing guard at Benjamin Banneker Elementary School, Milford Middle School (until its closing) and the Milford Central Academy for over 16 years.  In 2011 he was awarded with an engraved stone from the Milford Police Department and the Milford School District for working each day despite the weather conditions to ensure the safety and well-being of the children.  The difference he made in the lives of many of those children will live on.

He leaves to mourn his passing son, Clarence F. Harris, Jr. (Faith); four sisters: Kathryn E. Harris, Janice M. Daniels (Jimmie), Gwendolyn C. Harris and Deborah P. White (David); four brothers: Eugene F. Harris, George T. Harris, Jr. (Mary), Austin W. M. Harris (Diane) and Phillip L. Harris (Beatrice); one uncle, Nathan O. Thomas (Liola); one aunt, Ruth T.
