Your Hug Meant the World. Nobody else held us so tight or made us feel so right. No one's eyes shined so bright with love as our mom, who is now high above.
The world lost a beloved mother, Chong Harris, on June 10, 2022. Chong was born in Seoul, South Korea on October 28, 1951.
Chong’s infectious smile and kind heart carried her through life, touching everyone she met. Chong's love for cooking and sharing her Korean food with friends, family and even strangers will forever be remembered.
Chong worked in the Capital School District for over 20 years, creating long lasting friendships, and leaving her mark as a dedicated and loyal employee. Most recently, Chong worked at the Dover Airforce Base in the Commissary, again, spreading her love to countless customers. Chong enjoyed her time there with her friends, spending her lunch breaks over the food she made for them the night before.
Chong was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Harris.
Chong was a dedicated and loving wife to her current husband, Bill Barry of 12 years. Her love for family lives on in her children, Scott Considine and wife Jody, of Massachusetts, Lisa Nixon and her husband Heath of Delaware, Reese Buchman of Delaware and Anthony Buchman and wife Kristy, of North Carolina. Chong was blessed with 6 beautiful grandchildren, Brittany, Davin, Riley, Mason, Nirvanah Li and Jordan as well as two Great-Grandchildren, Brodie and Jayden.
A special thank you John Dolan, Jennie "Tip" Harris and family, for the place you held in her heart.
Friends are invited to say a final goodbye to Chong at Faith Community Church, Thursday June 16, 2022, Receiving Family and Friends at 10:30am and service at 11:30 followed by burial at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery 2465 Chesapeake City Rd, Bear, DE 19701
