Catherine “Cathy” Ann Parsons, 65, transitioned to her heavenly home on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. She was born on February 24, 1959, in the Milford Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her father Rev. Samuel Martz and her sister Carol “Jean” Poore.
Cathy is survived by her mother, Rev. Catherine Bernard and stepfather Joseph Bernard; her brother Sam Martz (Karen); her loving husband of 46 years, Ray Parsons, Sr.; daughters, Caren Hoerath (Stefan), Renea Thompson (Jeremy) and son, Ray Parsons Jr. (Elizabeth); her five beloved grandchildren, Morgan, McKenna, Bastian, Jaxson, and Maddox. She is also survived by her extended family, Sissy Casper (Gary), Bruce Poore, Sr. (Pat), Nancy Buckle (Darry), Sue Davis (Donny), a host of nieces and nephews and her spoiled dog, Honey.
Cathy’s life-long passion was working with children. As a teen, she taught Sunday School and Children’s Church. When her girls became school aged, she started working at Chesapeake Christian Academy. While there, she served in the following roles: Kindergarten Teacher, Supervisor, and spent the remaining years as Principal. After the birth of Ray, Jr., she opened and operated Cathy’s Daycare for 28 years, retiring in 2019. She touched many lives along the way and still considered all the children that came through her doors, hers. In her heart they will forever be Ms. Cathy’s kids.
Cathy and Ray enjoyed their annual solo camping trips. Visits to the Pennsylvania Dutch Country, looking for covered bridges, traveling the back roads looking for what not shops, and eating at their favorite restaurants. She loved spending time with her family; yearly camping trips at Frontier town, family dinners, sleepovers with the grandkids, pool parties, girl shopping days, and the many Holiday traditions, such as making stuffing at Thanksgiving, decorating the tree, and baking cookies. She was an excellent cake baker and decorator and made her kids wedding cakes and all of her grandkid’s birthday cakes. She enjoyed attending all her grandkid's school and sporting events and was their biggest cheerleader.
She was a devoted member of the New Beginning Church of God in Marydel. She remained steadfast in her faith throughout the years. She enjoyed participating in Operation Christmas Child and Code Purple campaigns.
Services include a visitation for family and friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, October 28, 2024, at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, Delaware.
