Obituary

In loving memory of Chief Master Sargent Carmen S. Campanicki (89 years), who passed away on Sunday, May 08, 2022. He was the devoted husband of 68 years to Catherine and loving father of Nina, Joseph & his wife Robin, Stephen and Roseanne & her husband Brian, with 6 grandchildren Michael & his wife Sara, Christy & her husband Todd, Amie & her husband Matt, Jason & his wife Laura, Jennifer, and Alexis & 11 great-grandchildren. He will be missed deeply by all who knew him.

Carmen “Campi” had a distinguished military career where he led project teams to disseminate the C-5 airplanes to bases all around the world. He enlisted in the Air Force, and then Air Force Reserves/Civil Service. After his retirement Campi suffered a major heart trauma which resulted in a quadruple bypass. His recovery and impressive progress led to a volunteer position with Mended Hearts which progressed to his Presidency of the organization. He also volunteered for the hospital itself, where he was revered and admired.

One of the kindest souls, Carmen was a giving man who worked tirelessly to ensure that his family had everything they needed and more. He faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage. Early in life, Carmen learned the importance of hard-work and he instilled that same work ethic in his family. He inspired them to "Never Stop Learning!” He was a man of unwavering love of God, and a devout patron at Holy Cross Church of Dover. He taught us the importance of family, hard-work, and doing what is right. Carmen was a true role model for his family and others.

Carmen was a force of nature. He touched so many lives and left an indelible impression on all that he encountered. He was the very best husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend.
