Brent Jay Chapman, 59, of Dover, Delaware, passed away on March 5, 2025. He was born on November 6, 1965, in Pinckneyville, Illinois, to the late Dale and Lillie (Sterner) Chapman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Randy “Joe” Chapman, and his sister Sherry Chapman.
Brent proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He served from 1987 to 2007 and retired after 20 years of honorable service. He served in Desert Storm and Desert Shield. Brent was an avid WWII enthusiast, and he helped restore WWII aircraft whilst stationed in England. He had a passion for history, reading, bird watching, as well as building model aircraft. He enjoyed collecting, building, and playing guitars. He had an eclectic musical taste, but hair metal was his passion. He was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals (baseball) and the St. Louis Blues (Ice Hockey). Above all, Brent will be remembered as a devoted husband and father.
Brent leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 28 years, Tracey Chapman; son, Benjamin Chapman (who is currently serving in the United States Air Force); daughter, Neave Chapman (currently a student at Thomas Jefferson University, PA, studying Architecture); brother in law, Gavin Swain; sister-in-law, Cheryl Swain and niece, Jorja Swain all of the United Kingdom; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Chapman; sister Peggy O’Bryan; nieces and nephews, Shelly Fares, Derrick Keller, Bill Ponder, Brian Ponder, Beth Phelps, Vicky Woodside and Heather Keller.
A memorial service for Brent will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are to be made in Brent’s memory to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd Staten Island, NY 10306.
