Bonnie White Johnson passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday February 10th, 2024 surrounded by family. She was the daughter of Joseph Thomas White of Philadelphia and Dorothy Cullen White of Ocean View Delaware. Graduate of Caesar Rodney Highschool class of 1958. She was on the board of directors at YMCA Dover and advisor to the Tri-High-Y. She was a member of Christ Church Dover and served two terms on church vestry and Alter Guild thirteen years. Chairmen of the Dr. Benjamin Burton Scholarship Fund. Member and President of the Women’s Republican Club of Dover and Republican candidate for office. She was secretary to the Delaware state Senate and House of Representatives for fourteen years. Originator of the Legislative Mall- Liberty Bell Park 1976. Member Friends of old Dover, Dover Day chairmen and many committees. She also chaired the Dover trivia game, Two terms board of directors Funeral practitioners and one year the president. Bonnie and Butch have been members of Saint Pauls Episcopal church of Camden for several years. Bonnie always outreached to several senior citizens in Dover. She and her husband, Butch (Norman) opened their home every December to friends and family to make candy canes. Mrs. and Mr. Johnson also travelled profusely and enjoyed spending of number of winters in Key West Florida.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband of 60 years Butch (Norman) Johnson, son Eric and Jessica Johnson of West Ocean City, Steven (Randall) and Tracey Johnson of Ocean View, Troy and Shellie Johnson of Ocean view, and grandchildren Karli Ann of Wisconsin, McKenzie Danielle, Siera Marie, Aiden Randall, Bryce Colby, Claire Renee, Turner Douglas Johnson of Ocean View. Burial at Christ Church of Dover.
A memorial service for Bonnie will be held on Monday, February 19 at 2:00pm at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Ave, Wyoming, DE 19934. The family will receive friends one hour prior. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to Dover SPCA in her name.
