Billy Joe Smith, Sr.

           It is with deep sadness that the family of Billy Joe Smith, Sr. announces his peaceful passing, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, July 29, 2022.  He  was 64.

        Billy was retired from Johnson Controls, Inc. after 31 years, where he was very active in the United Autoworkers Workers Union. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to hunt anything that moved, but bear hunting was his favorite. Billy was also a past president and member of the Coastal Coon Hunters Club; where he helped many years with the dinners & hunts. Above all Billy will be greatly remembered for his heart of gold.

       Billy was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Christine “GiGi” (Rains) Smith; his mother, Joan Smith; brother Floyd Smith, and his sister, Brenda Smith.

       Billy is survived by his wife of 31 years Donna Smith; 3 handsome sons, Billy, Jr.(Abbey), Tim(Melissa) and Nick(Caitlyn). Billy was also blessed with 7 grandchildren his “fruitloops” Cheyanne, Shauna, Addy, Natalie, Brayden, Max, and Caroline. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he loved to spoil them.

      Family and Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Billy’s Life from 1pm-4pm, Sunday, September 18, 2022 at the Harrington Fire Company, 20 Clark St., Harrington, DE.
