Beverly Ann Davis Harris was born Saturday October 5, 1963 to Robert A. Davis and Claretta M. Hazzard Davis. Affectionately nicknamed “Boo”, Beverly was the youngest of five children. She departed this life on Wednesday January 8, 2025 after a brief illness. Beverly married the love of her life Terrie Harris on February 23, 2008. They were married until his death – nearly 10 years.
Beverly was educated in the Milford School District. Having graduated from Milford High School in 1981, Beverly enrolled at Pennsylvania State University where she graduated receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Math and Computer Science.
Upon graduating college, Beverly was employed by the United States Commerce Department in the Census Bureau using her computer science skills to make the U.S. Census work more efficiently. She worked in the federal government for over thirty years and took on many leadership positions. Not one to sit still, Beverly obtained her master’s degree while working there. She resided in Laurel, Maryland.
Beverly joined Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church as a youth. She loved participating in the youth choir and Sunday school class. She was a faithful and active member who served as chairperson of the children’s ministry, food pantry coordinator, stewardship committee member, and various other roles. Her passion was in children’s ministry. Beverly wanted to make sure that the youth had some of the same great experiences in church as she did growing up like Christmas caroling, vacation bible school, and singing in the youth choir. She even hosted a church movie night.
Beverly was a sweet person. She had a heart of generosity, service, and love. She was always doing something for someone – delivering food, Christmas caroling to the shut-in, practicing with the youth choir, being a listening ear and confidant, giving gifts, and the list goes on. And she loved her family. Beverly made annual family Christmas calendars, maintained two households in two states so that she could care for her mother, was an active “Auntie” to her nieces and nephews making sure they had what they needed including taking them into her home at different stages of life – from toddlers to adults.
Beverly always wanted to be active. She got up early in the morning and got to work. Beverly liked the simple things in life: going out to eat with family and friends, beach vacations, movies, watching fireworks, and serving mankind.
Beverly was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of nearly 10 years, Terrie Harris, her father Robert A. Davis, and her sister, Edna Denise Coates.
Beverly leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Claretta H. Davis, Milford, DE; three step-children: Denzel, Terrica, and T’Asia , Connecticut; two brothers: Robert L. Davis (Rev. Glenn), Elkton, MD and Dr. Orlando R. Davis (Nadia), Wesley Chapel, FL; one sister: Pamella A. Taylor (Michael), Milford, DE; and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, Godchildren, and friends.
