Betty Hubbard Lucks, daughter of William and Willetta Hubbard, wife of Albert Lucks, was born in Greensboro Maryland on December 6, 1929, and passed peacefully on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Brookdale Dover.
Betty was a proud and accomplished housewife and mother, a dying art to which she lovingly devoted her life. A multitasker long before anyone considered adding that word to a resume, she could often be found gardening, sewing, and meticulously planning and preparing each meal she created for her family. Martha Stewart step aside, Betty Lucks was the first domestic Goddess!
“Aunt Betty”, due mostly to her peanut butter fudge recipe, was a favorite with each niece and nephew she adored. Whether at a family dinner, or a more somber occasion, she was always there with a smile, a kind word and, of course, a basket of homemade treats.
If Betty could be described in one word, that word would be TRUE. She believed in a life lived in TRUTH. One of integrity, generosity and humor. Often, when an unexpected visitor would drop by her first words were “have you eaten?” To her, food was love, home was love and everyone should know they are loved.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Albert Lucks, her brothers Fred Hubbard and Leon Hubbard and many others who were such an important part of her life. Betty is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Shahan, her son-in-law and puzzle partner Jeff Shahan and many fudge-loving nieces and nephews.
