Obituary

Barbara A. Williams, 65, of Houston, DE, passed away on Saturday May 28th, 2022 due to natural causes.  Barbara A. Williams was born in Georgetown, DE on September 19th, 1956 to the late Dorothy A. Gallaway and the late Macon T. Gibbs.  She attended the William C. Jason Comprehensive High School in Georgetown, DE and due to the magnanimous decision of Brown v. Board of Education, she also attended Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes, DE because Delaware schools slowly became desegregated during the 1960s.

Barbara A. Williams was a fascinating, strong, intuitive and protective mother, daughter, sister and friend.  She championed many, defended often and rallied numerous others.   She stood for what was right and was a proud, dependable woman indeed.  Also, she was known for making folks aware that she wouldn't tolerate anyone messing with her "kids".

She worked various jobs throughout her lifespan and during her later years, she was a self-employed child care provider for twenty plus years in Greenwood and Milford, DE.  After such, she retired to care for her mother, the late Dorothy A. Gallaway.  She enjoyed listening to music, reading novels, playing spades and dancing.  She truly loved to dance.  Her greatest loves were God and her family, and she was known for diligently ending each encounter with us all by quoting Genesis 31:49 May the Lord watch.....

Barbara A. Williams is preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy A. Gallaway and Macon T. Gibbs, husband, Oscar Williams Jr., a sister, Patricia A. Williams, three brothers, Clarence Gibbs, Kevin Gibbs, Thomas Gibbs, a significant other, James R. Hazzard, and a nephew, Jaime Williams.
