Alex Donya Cropper

     It is with profound sadness and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Alex D. Cropper, who departed this life on May 18, 2026 at the age of 48.

     Born on January 31, 1978 Alex was a lifelong resident of Dover, Delaware whose presence brought light, laughter, and love to everyone fortunate enough to know him. Alex was a devoted father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, veteran, counselor, mentor, and friend. He lived a life rooted in service, compassion, and dedication to others.

     Alex proudly served his country as a military veteran for 10 years. Following his military service, he devoted his professional life to helping others as a substance abuse and mental health counselor. His passion was improving the lives of those facing difficult circumstances, and he tirelessly worked within outreach programs, substance abuse services, mental health initiatives, and homeless assistance programs to ensure that people received the support, guidance, and resources they needed. Helping others was not simply his profession—it was his calling.

     Outside of his work, Alex found joy in coaching basketball and football, traveling on vacations, and spending quality time with those he loved most. He had an infectious spirit and was known for his bright smile, outgoing personality, and willingness to help anyone in need. Whether he was dancing, singing, telling jokes, or creating unforgettable memories with family and friends, there was never a dull moment when Alex was around. He was a true family man who cherished every opportunity to bring his loved ones together.

     Alex leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved children Miniya Cropper and Avery Cropper; his cherished stepsons, whom he loved and raised as his own: Roger Jones, Detione Jones, and Jason Brittingham; and his treasured grandkids: Julian, Gianna, Nora, King, Noriko, DJ, Corey, Kalila, Kaceyn, Honesty & Zamauri. He is also lovingly remembered by his mother, Barbara Satchell; his aunts: Denise Roberts, Lillie Sample, Cordoria Cropper, and Alesia Crippen; his uncle Calvin Cropper, along with a host of relatives, friends, colleagues, and community members whose lives were touched by his kindness and generosity.

     He was preceded in death by his sister Euchithea "Shay" Cropper; his grandmother Alice Cropper; his grandfather Albert Lee Cropper; his cousin LaTia "Khandi" Cropper; and his little cousin DeJour Crippen.

     Alex also leaves behind Katiya Cropper, with whom he shared 15 years of marriage and partnership. Together they built a family, created countless memories, and laid a foundation of love and support that remained an important part of his life's story.

     Though Alex's physical presence is no longer with us, the impact of his love, laughter, guidance, and selfless service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy is reflected in every life he helped, every lesson he taught, and every memory he created.
