Sharon Mae Schwarz

December 12, 1937 ~ January 7, 2018 (age 80) 80 Years Old

Sharon Mae Schwarz, 80 , passed away Sunday January 7, 2018 at Kent General Hospital, Dover after a long struggle with Alzheimer's.

She was born on December 12, 1937 in Park Rapids, Minnesota, daughter of the late Jack and Alice (Hendrickson) Hearty. She married, the love of her life,  April 19, 1958.  They shared a life of travel in the USAF living in Spain, Indiana, Mississippi, Nevada, New Jersey and finally stationed at Dover Air Force Base in 1968.

Sharon was a stay at home mom taking care of their four daughters.  Some mothers would have rather gone to work.  She loved canning and did everything from tomatoes and beets to peaches and pears.  Long days spent on the beach during the summer months with her girls and special friends were also something she enjoyed. Sharon was a wonderful seamstress making outfits for herself and matching outfits for her girls.  She was a fashionista and could always be seen in the latest trends right down to her matching bag and high heel shoes. She was a lifelong member of the Church of the Holy Cross and a permanent attendee of the Saturday evening 5 o'clock Mass.

She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her loving husband of 49 years, Robert E. J. Schwarz in 2007.  Additionally, she lost an infant son, Robert Scott Schwarz, on her birthday, December 12, 1968 and her son-in law, Steven Cunningham in 2012.

Left to cherish her memory are her four daughters; Michele Cunningham of Fort Myers, FL Marne Kozel (Paul) of Smyrna, Robin Moore (Mark) of Felton and Julie Kelley (Chris) of Dover, six grandchildren;  Nicole Young (Rich) of Fort Myers, Ryan Cunningham (Kasey) of Fort Myers, Ashley Quillin of Dover, Amanda  Landry (Shawn) of Dover, Tyler Moore and Taylor Moore of Felton.  Eight great-grandchildren;  Brayden, Liam and Elijah Cunningham, Lincoln and Deacon Young all of Fort Myers,  Sophia and Jaxson Quillin and Abigail Landry all of Dover.

A viewing will be held from 10-11:30 am on Friday January 12, 2018 at Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden Wyoming Ave, Wyoming, DE.  A Mass of Christian burial will be held immediately following at 12 noon at the Church of the Holy Cross,  631 S. South State Street, Dover, DE.  Burial will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover.
