Roxane Huey Obituary

Roxane A. Huey, 58, of Wyoming, DE, took the hand of Jesus and went to reunite with her family and friends in heaven on May 6, 2018 at Bayhealth Medical Center in Dover, DE after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by her loving family.

Roxane was born on November 25, 1959 in Elkins, WV to the late Gus C. and Christena H. Dove.

Roxane loved to cook, shop, swim in her pool with her friends and family, and go to the slots.  She enjoyed watching Lifetime, game shows and wrestling.  She also enjoyed crocheting while watching television.  In 1980, she began working at Dunkin Donuts in Dover, DE before transferring to Kent Liquor Mart in Dover, DE.  She loved to talk with her salesmen, vendors and she dearly loved her customers. In May 2017, she resigned from her position to focus on her family and health.

Shortly before Roxane left her earthly life, a very special prayer was said by her brother and sister in law, Joseph and Dorothy Evans.  Roxane is in heaven where there is no more pain, cancer, doctors, nurses or sadness, only joy and happiness.

The family wishes to thank the Bayhealth Oncology staff, the staff of 4A, especially nurses Hannah and Monet, 3W, 2N, and the ED and Delaware Hospice for all of their kindness and support.

Roxane was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Archie and Nola Harper, and her paternal grandparents, Robert Jacob and Hazel “Kitty” Dove. Also preceding her in death was her father in law, Lester Huey, a granddaughter, Alexis Renee Huey Lambert; a niece, Dorothy A. Evans; and a nephew, Eddie Hitchner; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is survived by the love of her life and husband of 28 years, Kenneth A. Huey of Wyoming, DE; a daughter and son in law, Tiffany R. and Ashley G. Jensen of Dover; a daughter, Crystal Lynn Huey of Oxford, PA; a sister, Elizabeth “Becky” Dove of St. Augustine, FL; three grandsons: Jacob and Joshua Jensen of Dover and Maven Brannon of Oxford, PA; and a granddaughter, Paige Chandler MacDonald of Oxford, PA; her mother in law, June Huey of Farmington; and a niece Leah Poulliot of Los Angeles, CA.  She is also survived by her sister in law and best friend, Diane Sunnekalb (Ed); her best friends Jay and Brenda DeVeau; and her “brother” Roger Meekins.  Throughout her illness and life, she also treasured her nieces and nephews, Chrystal Ensley (Dan), Dianna Martin (fiancé Jimmy Kirby), Dianna Ensley, Dana and Nicole Huey, Eddie Martin (Ciera) and Travis Martin.  In addition, she is also survived by her aunts, Doris (Rev. Earl B. Bible) of Seneca Rocks, WV, Molly Tidwell of DeCateur, GA and Patricia Dickinson of Olney, MD; her uncle, Alton Dove; and her many cousins and friends.

The family will receive guests on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. and on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE 19934.  A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.  Interment will follow in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. Kindly omit flowers.  In Roxane’s memory, the family is requesting donations be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901 or the Bayhealth Foundation, 640 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901, the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way #205, New Castle, DE 19720 or First State Animal Center and SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934.
