Mr. Richard C. Barnette, Sr. (Rich) of Camden, DE suddenly passed away surrounded by family at Kent General Hospital in Dover, DE on August 16, 2018.
Mr. Barnette was born on April 11, 1957 in Washington, D.C. to the late Reese Barnette, Sr. and Betty W. Stevens. For many years he enjoyed working as a glazer. Recently he became a mentor at Connections in Dover, where he took a lot of pride in being able to help others. One of his favorite things to do while not working was going to Spence’s Bazaar in Dover, as well as going to yard sales. He was a very loving, caring and private man who most of all enjoyed being home spending time with family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, John Barnette and Reese Barnette, Jr. and his nephew, Steven Spurlin, Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Amber (Cutting) Barnette; 2 children, Dawn Barnette and husband Charles of Claremont, NH, Richard Barnette, Jr. and wife Alyssa of Camden, DE; four grandchildren, Brandi and Kayla Westover both of Claremont, NH, Brock Green of Somerset, KY and Richard Barnette, III (Junior) of Camden, DE; his brother Wayne and wife Cheryl Hayes of Dover; sisters Teresa Ballard, Ida Barnette and Deana Calvert along with a host of nieces and nephews whom he loved and cared for so much.
“God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So He put his arms around you and whispered, “Come to me.” With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.”
A private memorial was held on August 19, 2018 for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Pippin Funeral Home to assist with expenses. Online condolences may be made via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
