Renee Combs Obituary

Dover – Renee Ann Combs, who was a long time resident of Aurora, Colorado and recently moved to the Dover area, died Tuesday, September 10th in the Milford Hospice Center holding hands with her loving sister.Renee was born in Pipestone, Minnesota.  Her father was in the newspaper publishing business and the family moved around to a few locations in Nebraska and South Dakota.  She graduated from high school in Ipswich, South Dakota and enlisted in the Air Force.  She became an aircraft electrician and worked on fighter aircraft while stationed at Luke AFB, Arizona and Soesterberg AB, Netherlands.  She served on active duty for four years and later entered the Colorado Army National Guard and was assigned to the 101st Army Band until she retired in 2000.  Renee played the flute and keyboards and loved her work with the band and performed at many extra gigs to further the band’s motto as “Ambassadors of the Colorado National Guard”.

In her civilian life, Renee attended college and earned her bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University in Denver.  She worked as an executive assistant and loved her last position working at an education non-profit organization, from which she retired in June 2017.

Although Renee never married, she kept busy taking college and other classes to continue learning. She was adventurous and loved to travel.  She was also extremely creative and loved sewing, crocheting, jewelry making, stained glass, woodworking tiling and more.  For several years she worked with and made the sets for the Aurora Singers, a community singing group.  She immersed herself in her work, friends and projects.  She always enjoyed the company of two cats, most recently Lucy & Fitz.

Renee is survived by her brother, Rick Combs and his wife Lori of Lawrence, Kansas, sister; Robin Adkins and her husband Mike and sons, Clyde & Johnathan of Dover; brother-in-law, Scott Courtemanche and his sons Patrick and Jeremy and their families in the Atlanta, Georgia area.
