Raymond J Chance

September 8, 1968 ~ January 6, 2018 (age 49) 49 Years Old

Raymond James Chance, affectionately known as “Chubb Rock, Chubby, or just Chubb,” was born on September 8th, 1968 in Dover, DE.  He was the son of Helen M. Chance and the late Eugene Chance Sr.  He departed this life peacefully at his home on January 6th, 2018.

Raymond was raised and educated in Dover, DE, attending grade school in the Caesar Rodney School District.  Raymond worked faithfully at Perdue as a live hanger for 10 years and Berry Van Lines as a professional mover for 15 years.  He was most recently known for his infectious smile as the Produce Man, at Camden [DE] Wal-Mart.  His mannerisms, personality and genuine desire to help the customers and his co-workers was far from unnoticed.  His compassion and empathy for those in need left a lasting impression with anyone he came in contact with.

Raymond was a gentle guy with a big heart.  He was extremely devoted to the care and well-being of his Mother.  She was the start and finish of his every day.  He was a devoted Uncle and Father-Figure to his nephew, Tyre’ Wayman, whom he raised like a son.  He took pride in his favorite niece whom he referred to as “His Nurse” – Tanesha Donaldson, and his “Young Neph’s” (nephews) – Erik Donaldson, Nathaniel Stevenson & Eugene Chance III.  Family meant everything to Raymond.  He loved nothing more than a family night, home-cooked food with his world famous fried chicken, and a good movie.  His favorite past times were fishing, cooking, hanging out with friends, and watching movies.

Raymond was preceded in death by his Father, Eugene Chance Sr. of Dover, DE, his niece, Nicole Stevenson of Camden, DE, and a very close friend, Alvin Lee Williams aka “Blue” of Dover, DE.  He leaves to cherish his memories his loving Mother, Helen M. (Baynard) Chance of Dover, DE and a loving Fiancé’ of 11 years, Sharonda Miles AKA “His Queen” of Smyrna, DE.  He is also survived by his siblings Ethel (Erik) Donaldson of Dover, DE;  Eugene (Nadine) Chance of Camden, DE;  Amelia Chance of Magnolia, DE;  Ella Chance of Maryland.  He also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins & friends, many of which he grew up with like siblings.

He will be deeply missed by all whom knew and loved him.

Lovingly Submitted,  The Family
