Paul Norman McKinney, of Dover, passed away Monday, November 27, 2017, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 92.
Paul was born May 20, 1925, in Cheswold, DE to the late, Walter & Myrtle(Patterson) McKinney. He served proudly in the United States Army, during WWII, was a purple heart recipient, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He worked as a Union Carpenter for over 30 years, before retiring in 1981.
In his free time, Paul enjoyed slot car racing, NASCAR, coloring, doing word find & crossword puzzles.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Jean McKinney, who passed in 2014; a sister, Jeannette; and brothers. Donald, William, Harold, Walter, Gary, Henry and Richard.
Paul is survived by his wife of 66 years, Violet (Balke) McKinney; 3 children, Paula Mae Chidester & husband, David Lee, of Camden; Daniel E. McKinney & wife, Sally, of Palm Coast, FL.; Cheryl Ann Pierce & companion, Thomas Cahall, of Dover. 2 sisters, Geraldine & Barbara; and 5 grandchildren; Breanna Painter & husband, Nathan, who are expecting Paul’s first great-granddaughter soon; Bryan, Andrew, & Christopher McKinney; and Branden Pierce & wife, Sherrilee.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, December 4, 2017, in Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, DE; where family and friends may view from 12-1 pm. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
