Neil Kennedy Stewart

June 18, 1932 ~ April 18, 2017 (age 84) 84 Years Old


     Neil Kennedy Stewart, 84 years old, left us on April 18, 2017 and resided in Dover, DE. Neil was born June 18, 1932 in Philadelphia, PA to Maude Love and William Edward Stewart, Jr.

     He attended the Trevose School District and graduated from Bensalem High School.  Neil enlisted in the United States Army January 6, 1953 and served in Korea.  Neil was honorably discharged January 7, 1955.  Neil worked many years for Conrail in Philadelphia, the Naval Base in Philadelphia and retired from the Philadelphia Housing Authority.  He also attended and got his degree at the Pennsylvania State University.

     Neil was the father of five children from a previous union.  Neil met and fell in love with Jeanette Baxter from Philadelphia.  After being joined in holy matrimony to Jeanette a blended family was created and Neil became the father of six children.  Neil and Jeanette shared many years of happiness together until he went home to the Lord.  Neil came to love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ with his wife Jeanette.  He served as a deacon at the Church of Faith in Philadelphia under the pastorate of Bishop Claude R. Barnes.  Neil and Jeanette moved to Delaware in December of 2004 and joined Calvary Baptist Church, Dover, DE in 2005 under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. Richard M. Avant.

     Neil always enjoyed traveling, taking day road trips, restoration of antique cars and attending antique car shows.  When he could, he enjoyed spending time with his grans and great grans and family members.  Neil had a love for his dogs.  He and Jeanette had 2 rescued Cocker Spaniels, Maxxie and Jack and a Schnauzer named Maxx.  They were his babies!

     Neil is survived by his wife Jeanette Stewart; six children, Kirk from South Carolina (Margie), Valerie from Richmond, VA, Brian from Moreno Valley, Calif. (Monique), Troy from Upper Marlboro, MD (Rhonda), Joseph of Dover, DE and Natalie of Bensalem, PA (Curtis); two sisters, Ernestine from Arlington, VA, Marion Stewart from Danbury, Conn; 6 sisters’ in-law: Regina, Madeline, Josephine, Jeanine, Rosemary and Jane all of Philadelphia, PA.  Neil has 28 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.  He also has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that all love and will miss him.  As you can see, he was truly blessed!

     A funeral service will be Noon Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church, 410 Fulton Street, Dover, DE 19904 where there will be a viewing from 10:00 to 12:00 on Thursday.  Online condolences may be made via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
