John T. Dawson "Tom"

John T. Dawson (Tom), passed away on October 8, 2018, at the age of 71.  He was born January 29, 1947 in Dover, DE to the late William and Lillian (Ingram) Dawson.

Tom is a graduate of Caesar Rodney High School, class of 1965.  He served his country proudly in the US Army.  Tom is the Vice-President of Dawson Bus Service, Inc. Tom was a lifetime member of Camden-Wyoming Fire Co., where he was past assistant chief.  He was past president and member of the Camden-Wyoming Lions Club, with 38 years of service.  He also served on the Board of Directors for the Delaware State Fair since 1995.  Tom was a former mayor of Camden and a member of Whatcoat United Methodist Church.  He was also a member of the Delaware School Bus Contractors Association.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.  Tom was a hard worker and very giving to his community.  He got many children to and from school safely.  He will be truly missed by many.

In addition to his parents, Tom was predeceased by his son-in-law, James E. Scheers, II.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Mary (Vogl); children, Sharon Lynn  Scheers, Lisa Ann Dawson, Linda Jean Price (Spencer) and Susan Jill Nichols (Jonny); grandchildren, Jon Wesley and Parker Dawson Nichols, Ella Brooke Price and Riley Madison Scheers; brother William “Ray” Dawson and his wife Elaine; and many nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be 5-8 pm Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, DE.  Service will be 1:00 pm Sunday, October 14 at Pippin Funeral Home, where friends may call beginning at 11 am. Burial will follow in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover, DE.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Camden-Wyoming Fire Co., 200 E. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Camden, DE 19934 or to the Camden-Wyoming Lions Club (Michael Webb Scholarship) PO Box 246, Camden-Wyoming, DE 19934.
