JoAnn P. (Glenn) Baines

May 28, 1957 ~ July 1, 2017 (age 60) 60 Years Old

JoAnn Baines (nee: Glenn) peacefully passed away in her home in Felton, Delaware on July 1, 2017.  JoAnn was a loving and thoughtful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

JoAnn was born May 28, 1957 in Ridley Park, PA to Robert and Mary “Betty” Glenn.  She lived a full life serving both her country and community.  JoAnn is a veteran of the United States Air Force having retired after 20 years of honorable service and achieving the rank of Master Sergeant.  She is a Desert Storm veteran who provided medical staffing support to Wilford Hall Medical Center during hostilities in 1991.  JoAnn was a talented Human Resources practitioner, most recently employed by Burris Logistics.  She earned a Baccalaureate Degree in Human Resources from Sacramento State University and was awarded certification as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR).  One of JoAnn’s greatest joys was being a mom.  While being a member of the military, a military spouse, and working as a civilian, JoAnn took every opportunity to be involved in her children’s lives as she participated in the PTA, served on the Little League Board of Directors, and worked with the Band Parents Association.

Just over four years ago, JoAnn professed her love for Jesus Christ and married devoted husband SMSgt Dorwin “Dee” Baines (USAF Retired).  She treasured every moment they shared and many can attest that these were the happiest four years of JoAnn’s life.  When they married, JoAnn immediately welcomed Dee’s family into her heart and loved them unconditionally.  JoAnn is survived by her children Catherine “Katie” (Marc) Karasek and Jacob Lewin; step-children Jason (Ruth) Cooper and Vanessa Van Winkle; grandchildren Theodore Karasek, Peter, Michael and Liam Cooper, Jackson Roseboom and Avery Van Winkle; siblings Robert (Margaret “Peggy”) Glenn, James (Sheila) Glenn, Susan (Daniel) Eastman.

JoAnn spread joy with an infectious laugh and smile wherever she went.  She will be so missed.

A funeral service will be 11:30 A.M. Monday, July 10, 2017 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE 19934 where there will be a viewing from 10:00 to 11:30 A.M.
