Howard M. Rowlands, Jr. of Camden, DE passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on Monday, September 25, 2017 at Delaware Hospice Milford Center.

Howard was born on August 31, 1934 in Pittsburgh, PA where he met and married the love of his life, Mary Lou (Forbes) Rowlands on May 28, 1960. They moved to Gloucester Township, NJ in 1971 with a transfer thru Buena Vista Pictures/Walt Disney Co. He was employed by the Disney Company until his retirement from the Manhattan Branch in September 1996. Following Mary Lou’s retirement from the Gloucester Twp. Board of Ed. in 2004, they relocated to Camden, DE to spend 13 happy years together at Barclay Farms.

Howard is preceded in death by his parents, Murral & Mary Rowlands, nephew Lloyd West, brother-in-law John C. Forbes and sister-in-law Rita Forbes.

In addition to his wife, Howard is survived by his sister Sally Ann West, Manassas, VA and loving, dear-to-his heart nieces Regina Curry (Bill), Manassas, VA and Sharen Saunders (Dale), No.Huntington, PA, brother-in-law Thomas B. Forbes (Lori), Richmond, VA, loving nieces and nephews Donna Kellogg, John Forbes (Jean), Michael Forbes, all of Syracuse, NY, Heather Kovatich (Dan), Elkins Park, PA, Thomas E. Forbes (Sasha) of Germantown, MD, great-nieces and nephews Teri Saunders, Tanner & Riley Curry, Daniel Kovatich, Maya Forbes, John Michael, Brian & Savannah Forbes, Lynne Froneberger, Shannon and Leigh Kellogg and Michael Regan.

During Howard’s 4 years in the US Navy, he served on the USS Preston (DD795) destroyer and the USS Randolph (CV-15) carrier and received a Certificate of Recognition for service during the Cold War period.

Howard was a loyal member of the BPOE Dover Lodge 1903 and past member of the BPOE Marlton Lodge 2514. He was also a member of the American Legion, Walter L. Fox Post 2 and the Tin Can Sailors Assoc.

Friends may call Friday, October 6, 2017 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, DE 19934, with Memorial Service to follow at 1:00 PM. Interment at Jefferson Cemetery, Baldwin, PA on Friday, October 13, 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name are suggested for Delaware Hospice or Wounded Warriors.
