Herbert J. Hartnett of Wyoming passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the family home surrounded by his loving family after a long fight with Alzheimers. He was born on December 11, 1934 to the late John R. Hartnett, Sr. and Margaret A. Hartnett.
Herbert served his country proudly in the Army during the Korean War. He was the successful owner of Hartnett Contracting for over 50 years, and a skilled farmer for most of his life. Herbert also helped build the track at Dover Dovns in 1967. He enjoyed spending time with family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Charles E., John F., John R. Jr., and Leo S., his son Franklin J. Hartnett and his beloved pet, Brown Dog.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Jeannette M. Hartnett, five children Patrick J. (Cindy), Fred (Kathy), Nancy George (Wayne), Christine Crothers (Jim) and Regina Meisinger (Roy), 11 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5-7 pm. Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 5 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
