Frances "Minnie" Downes

Frances “Minnie” Downes, of Dover, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017, in Kent General Hospital.  She was 83.

     Frances was born June 15, 1934, in Dover, DE to the late, Dorothy Luff. She had worked at J.C. Penney’s Department Store for over 25 years; and was a long time volunteer with Delaware Hospice. In her free time, Minnie enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, and  talking to people.

    Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Edward T. Downes, who passed on July 4, 1988.

    Minnie is survived by 3 children, Judy A. Schmeusser & husband, Daniel, of Clayton; Steven E. Downes & wife, Carolyn, of Hartly; and Connie Meyers & fiance’ Mark Rinehart, of Dover; 4 grandsons & 3 great-grandsons.

   Funeral Services will take place at 11am, Monday, November 27, 2017, in Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming; where family and friends may gather from 10am to 11am.  Burial will be private.
